I was three years old in 1975, and I have no recollection of watching the movie, only that I have always loved listening to the song, its lyrics and the uplifting music. My mom tells me that I loved this song from the moment I heard it in the theater with her and dad.

The song is surprisingly deep, beautiful, poetic, and philosophical. I dedicate this post for my 26th anniversary with my beloved ❤️.

Verse My translation
जग में रह जाएंगे प्यारे तेरे बोल. one day you will be sold for the price of clay, all that will remain on earth will be your words
फिर दुनिया से डोल. give your songs to others, leave this mark when you finally leave this world
होनी तो फिर भी बिछड़ा यार मिलाए. misfortunes will place many obstacles in your life, but luck will reunite you with lost friends
फिर कोई दिलवाला काहे को घबराये. the separation (from your friends) will only last a two moments, be brave and don’t worry
बहती धारा बन जा, फिर दुनिया से डोल. like a stream always meets the ocean, you are a stream and will one day leave this world
थाम के तेरे मेरे मन की डोरी. your beloved wife on your wedding night is hidden behind a veil, and your heart is tied forever with her
ये बन्धन ना टूटे. don’t ever lose this tie or your relationship with her
अब रैना है थोड़ी. the night will end, and there will be daylight soon
बैठा क्या है यार. don’t lie dejected and disheartened
फिर दुनिया से डोल. look in the eyes of your beloved, and leave the world
जग में रह जाएंगे प्यारे तेरे बोल. one day you will be sold for the price of clay, all that what will remain on earth will be your words

The song was sung by Mukesh. Lyrics of this beautiful song were crafted by the Urdu poet Majrooh Sultanpuri, and the music was composed by Rahul Dev Burman.
